Naomi Wilson Blount started singing and playing piano when she was a little girl after her parents bought her a piano for her birthday. She began learning to play by ear and was never interested in learning how to read music. She would listen to the Gospel songs her mother would play on her stereo, playing along with whatever song she heard. She started her recording career at the age of 15 with an arrangement of “I’m So Young”.

On July 5, 1982, Naomi was sentenced to live without possibility of parole. While serving 37 years of that sentence, Naomi was an active singer, and choir leader. Her song “This Is Not My Home” premiered during a TedX conference and has received over 130K views. In 2019, Naomi began recording with Die Jim Crow — listen here!
