Join us Thursday night for a concert from Cameroonian artist D.O.X. and a performance and talks with rapper/poet/lyricist King Moosa of the King Moosa Project. All proceeds from the show will benefit the performing artists and Amplify Music’s mission to make music with court-involved youth.
Of his relationship with hip-hop, King Moosa says, “My music came about as a therapeutic tool while driving a 25 year sentence that begin when I was just 14 years old. Already using the art of hip hop to get through, I end up falling deeper in love with the culture once I was realized I had something to say.”
D.O.X. is one of Jail Time Records' youngest artists. Jail Time Records is a non-profit record label producing incarcerated and formerly incarcerated artists from Cameroon's toughest prison. D.O.X. spent almost two years incarcerated with his two brothers inside Douala's central prison and was released in December 2019. D.O.X. is a versatile artist, singing both in French and English and exploring various genres, from rap to pop to afro.
